Waste Recycling Group Ltd (WRG) intend to continue using Arpley landfill site, off Old Liverpool Road, Warrington, for a further 12 years until 2025 after its permission to use the landfill finishes in 2013.
If approved by the council or the Secretary of State, new plans put forward by the site owners will mean waste will continue to be brought from outside Warrington to be dumped less than 2 miles away from Warrington Town Centre and just hundreds of metres away from thousands of Warrington residents doorsteps until 2025.
Currently it is estimated more than 70% of the waste dumped at the site is from outside the North West. Warrington does not propose to send it's waste to this site after 2013, plans exist to send waste to incinerators outside the Warrington area.
The HGV vehicles visiting the site and the landfill operations proximity to houses, causes significant upset to many people in Warrington. This coupled with the ongoing nuisance of dirt, dust, litter and traffic inflicted on the Warrington's roads for the past 20 years means enough is enough.
Arpley Landfill Opposition Group (ALOG) has been set up to ensure the plans are opposed in the right manner and the true feelings of Warrington people are heard rather than ignored.
Please support Warrington people by visiting the 'Support Us' page on this website to see what you can do to support your local community.
Warrington can no longer continue to be a dumping ground for other areas. We need to make a stand.
Many thanks....
